Come Monsoons, and it’s time to head to your cosy corners for a good cuppa or hot pot. That is just the feeling Soul Atrium’s new monsoon menu captures. As we settled in, overlooking the glass windows, hazy with light rain, we couldn’t help but notice the beautiful antique and pastel décor, married so well to give off a laid-back yet modern vibe.

What arrived on our table first wasn’t a cup of warm Hot chocolate; it was just the perfect hug that we needed. Thick, hot molten cocoa surrounded by layers of chocolate chips and a stick of gooey marshmallow to be dipped into it was the perfect start to our lunch. Next came the dish, which is undoubtedly the King of all comfort food, dim sum. But once we opened the bamboo basket, what awaited us was a surprising carrot-shaped melt-in-the-mouth cream cheese dim sum, with coriander sprigs to complete the look.
In Kolkata, monsoons are synonymous with bountiful seafood catch. Thus, the Gondhoraj fish tikka was an inevitable choice. What more, it came in a ship-shaped apparatus with smoke-emitting coal in the bottom layer, which not only lent an aesthetic appeal to the dish but also added that charcoal-smoky flavour which elevated the taste. These soft, flavourful pockets of fish made us gobble up all six of them in the blink of an eye.
For the mains, we had the Chicken ramen complete with grilled chicken pieces, sprouts, egg, noodles, and a flavourful broth. We also had condiments like fried and fresh onions and coriander to play around with the taste as per our liking.
And even though we were full, missing the dessert wasn’t on the cards. We cracked open the ombre mango soufflé and dug into the sweet filling, scooping it with the hard chocolate shell for the perfect layered texture.
