A captivating on-screen collaboration is brewing in Indian cinema as Kareena Kapoor Khan and Dhanush are reportedly in advanced discussions to share screen space for the first time. The untitled project, backed by celebrated filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and directed by Tamil director PS Mithran, is being designed as a sweeping mythological adventure set against the backdrop of dense forests.
Should the project materialise, the film will also mark a significant personal milestone by ending a two-decade professional distance between Kareena and Sanjay. Their strained equation dates back to the early 2000s after she missed out on playing Paro in Devdas. While the duo were briefly linked to potential collaborations over the years, the partnership never came to fruition. This high-concept venture promises to finally bring them together for a narrative where Kareena is slated to play a commanding role alongside Dhanush.
Details regarding the storyline remain closely guarded, though insiders reveal the plot revolves around an elephant and features layered mythological elements mounted on an extravagant scale. Addressing the swirling speculation surrounding the film, Mithran confirmed that positive conversations are underway, noting with optimism, "Good things will happen."
Pre-production is scheduled to begin later this year, with principal photography planned to commence in early 2027. The project adds to a packed schedule for all parties involved. Kareena is preparing for the release of Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming crime drama Daayra, whilst Dhanush continues to expand his presence across major pan-Indian productions. Meanwhile, Sanjay is putting the final touches on his much-anticipated period romance Love & War before shifting creative focus to this ambitious jungle epic. Contractual negotiations and scheduling dates are currently being finalised.
