Scout’s honour: Skoda's Kodiaq Scout is bound to thrill those who enjoy off-tarmac adventures
The Kodiaq Scout is Skoda Auto India’s latest offering that is bound to thrill those who enjoy adventures off the tarmac. We take the vehicle that combines muscular beauty with off-road capabilities for a spin.
In terms of visual appeal, the vehicle carries a few changes that do their bit to bring out its sporty genes.
It boasts clean chiselled lines, LED headlights with illuminated ‘eyelashes’ and LED taillights that have that crystalline element in them too.
You also get a silver front bumper spoiler and rear bumper diffuser, 18-inch alloys with a new look, Scout badging on the front fenders and the manufacturer’s name spelt in large letters across the rear tailgate instead of the logo.
The SUV benefits from a wood finish on the dash with a neat ‘Scout’ inscription, black Alcantara leather upholstery that covers the seats as well as the door panels and brushed aluminium pedals.
As far as features are concerned, you get an upmarket Canton audio system with 10 speakers, a large touchscreen display that allows you to access a plethora of information as well as address your connectivity needs via Smartlink, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink, three-zone Climatronic AC, hands free parking and a virtual boot lid release feature.
Powering the vehicle is the tried and tested 2.0-litre TDI unit that makes 150 PS power and 340 Nm torque.
The engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and you also get all-time 4x4 as standard. You also get multiple driving modes that include Eco, Sport, Snow, Normal and Individual.
The machine also comes with a new Offroad mode that works under 30 kmph and can be turned on at the simple touch of a button near the gear selector.
The ride quality is top-notch and rather confidence-inspiring. If you do venture off-road, the car also gets an underbody protective cover as part of the rough road package.
The Kodiaq Scout is a fun-to-drive vehicle that delivers the perfect mix of elegance and sportiness.
It comes with some clever touches that include umbrellas in the front door and blankets for the rear passengers! Safety features include ABS, AFS, ESC and nine airbags to name a few. It is a vehicle that leaves you impressed in more ways than one.
The Scout will help make further inroads for the brand and considering the fact that it has been priced rather well, it does make for a sane choice for those looking for an elegant seven-seater SUV that is versatile and premium.
The Skoda Kodiaq Scout is priced at INR 33.99 lakh.
