Celebrating his 57th birthday yesterday, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma announced his debut as an actor in his next bilingual (Telugu and Hindi) project Cobra. Reacting to this, actor Amitabh Bachchan said, “Finally! Ram Gopal Varma...The 'Sarkar' finds his true vocation...Acting! Damn... Another competition.”

RGV shared the news on Twitter with a look from his film, which will be co-directed by Agasthya Manju. Talking about the film, the Rakthacharitra director wrote, “COBRA is a biopic of a rowdy sheeter turned Naxalite turned Police covert agent turned gangster ..While the likes of Dawood Ibrahims and Chota Rajan's ruled the criminal world on brand names, the Cobra ruled in anonymity ..No one knew of his existence till he died.”

Big B and RGV have worked together in the hit film Sarkar (2005), romantic film Nishabd also starring late actress Jiah Khan, Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag and Department, starring Sanjay Dutt.

On the professional front, Amitabh will next be seen in Jhund, Brahmastra and Telugu film Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. RGV’s last project was Lakshmi’s NTR.
