Marvel has finally released the much-awaited teaser trailer of Black Widow and fans can't keep their calm as the scarlet-haired assassin finally gets her own movie, after years of appearing as a secondary character in other heroes' movies.

Directed by Cate Shortland, the film is reportedly set after the events of Captain America: Civil War and will find Natasha Romanoff (played by Scarlett Johansson) dealing with her past.

The two-minute-long trailer includes flashes of Natasha’s early life where she is seen training to be an assassin in the Red Room, the elite KGB program that was shown in Avengers: Age of Ultron. She’s trying to put her assassin days behind her to work with the Avengers, but a certain 'unfinished business' force her to return to that world, thereby reuniting with old faces like Florence Pugh’s Yelena.

The unfinished business involves Natasha teaming up with Rachel Weisz’s Malena and David Harbour’s Alexei, a.k.a. the Red Guardian. (In the comics, the Red Guardian is the Soviets’ attempt to create a Captain America of their own). The trailer also gives a look at the Taskmaster, whose identity has yet to be revealed. ( According to the comics, the Taskmaster is a mercenary who can instantly copy and absorb his opponent’s strengths.)

It was back in 2010 that the Natasha was introduced (in Iron Man 2) and over the next decade, the MCU showed her help found the Avengers, take down threats and ultimately save the universe by sacrificing her life, as shown in Avengers: Endgame that released earlier in April this year.

Black Widow will hit the screens on May 1.
