Game of Thrones prequel starring Oscar-nominee Naomi Watts, Naomi Ackie and Denise Gough has been reportedly cancelled by HBO.

According to reports, the pilot, which was shot over the summer, didn’t receive a positive response from the network, which is the reason why a full-fledged series has not been sanctioned. HBO’s decision to not go forward with the Watts-starrer series reportedly comes after lengthy post-production.

The project was set during Westeros’ Age of Heroes on the precipice of The Long Night war with the White Walkers. Author and executive producer George RR Martin suggested The Long Night as a title.

Meanwhile, the network announced a prequel based on Targaryens, House of The Dragon. The focus will be on the Targaryen Civil War that took place around 300 years before the events of Thrones.
