Zomato launches video-streaming service with original content
One of the country’s first online food aggregator applications, Zomato, has announced its foray into over-the-top (OTT) space, starting with 18 original shows.
Based on food, the short-format videos will be released over a period of three months and will reportedly feature popular faces like Chef Sanjeev Kapoor and a few stand-up comedians.
The Zomato Original shows are said to be around food across categories including comedy, reality, fiction, advice, celebrity interviews, exploring food in unique and entertaining ways. The brief videos will be categorised by genre, letting users watch three to 15-minute videos.
“The Zomato video experience will launch with 2,000+ videos that include Zomato Originals, which will be available to stream in India, while Sneak Peek and recipe videos can be accessed anywhere in the world,” the company said in a statement.
The startup, founded in 2008, claims to have more than 70 million monthly active users and 1.4 million premium Gold subscribers. The online ordering service is now in 500+ Indian cities serving more than 1.3 million orders a day.
