Indian cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sri Lanka pacer Asitha Fernando had a heated exchange during the recent India–Sri Lanka Test in Colombo. After the incident went viral, Yashasvi appeared to respond to a video discussing the on-field clash, seemingly defending his actions in the comments.
During the recent match in Colombo, the two cricketers got into a heated argument which soon escalated online with fans decoding the incident. As Yashasvi was dismissed by Asitha in the opening session at the SSC Ground, rage unfolded on the ground.
Yashasvi reacted to the send-off by turning around and approaching Asitha, leading to a heated exchange between the two. The argument intensified as they moved closer and came face-to-face, with Yashasvi’s helmet appearing to make contact with Asitha’s forehead. There was further physical contact before Sri Lanka captain Dhananjaya de Silva and other players quickly intervened and pulled the two apart.
Following this encounter, netizens across social media jumped in to decode the situation. One of the videos, featured cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle, analyzing the confrontation. The video titled “Did Jaiswal cross the line?” To that, Yashasvi responded in the comments, defending himself and replied, “If you don’t know what he said then please don’t make your judgment if anyone cross the line we need to let them know this India will fight and reply”.
This comment quickly went viral adding more fuel to the already blazing fire. Netizens poured in and started commenting on his act. One user wrote, “I didn't watch the incident, so I won't judge who was at fault. But I strongly object to the statement that " this India will fight", Sports are played on a field, not a warzone, and Indian cricketers have traditionally carried themselves with grace and dignity.”
Another added, “Please tell him that he is holding a cricket bat not a rifle.” A third user wrote, “Jaiswal is a brilliant cricketer, and he deserves all the respect for the way he fights on the field. But disagreeing with a senior like Harsha Bhogle publicly in this manner is not a good sign”.
