Not many emerging musicians can claim to have shared the dais alongside Coldplay, within weeks of their debut release. But entrepreneur-turned-artiste Ananya Birla is all about shattering conventions. In fact, this Oxford University alumnus’ single Livin’ The Life has already garnered over 5.1 million views on YouTube alone. Produced by Jim Beanz—Grammy and Emmy-nominated musician who also creates tracks alongside pop stars including Nelly Furtado, Cheryl Cole and Demi Lovato—her first song was recorded at Pennsylvania’s Sunset Sound Studio.

But being the scion of the Birla family—the daughter of industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla—this 23-year-old has amassed a legion of ‘haters’ online. In fact, the comments section of her video and her social media is rife with allegations of ‘lip-syncing’ and ‘click-farming’. Shrugging all of this aside, this Universal Music artiste has collaborated with one of the world’s most popular DJs, Afrojack, to reconstruct her pop crossover record. “Music has always been my magic. It’s an artist's dream to get their work remixed by Afrojack,” said Ananya via a press release, adding, “I hope this track gets people on their feet, dancing! I want to convey a heartfelt message through an upbeat track.” Ranked number ten on DJMags TOP 100 list, the Dutch DJ provides the quintessential dancefloor treatment for the tune.
