It has been a while since the #MeToo movement has started ans with each passing day several women from the industry are speaking out. While it has already reached India, especially in Tollywood, Pakistani singer-actor Meesha Shafi on Twitter on Thursday in a tweet has accused actor and singer Ali Zafar of sexual harassment.While she did not talk about the incident, she went on to say that by talking about her experiences she wants to break the culture o silence that permeates through society.
Actor and singer Ali Zafar has however, reacted and rejected the allegations. The actress has gone on to state in the tweet that it did not happen when she was young or when she was entering the industry and has in fact happened as a mother of two children, while being an accomplished woman.
The actor also told a leading Pakistan news publication, that she immediately told her husband and her family about the incident. Ali Zafar, however, has said he will take the matter to court. He also went on to say that he would address it professionally rather than throwing allegations on Twitter. Incidentally, he also said that he is in support of the #MeToo movement
