Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty Kundra have reportedly been summoned by the deputy SP of Rajasthan’s Churu district, Hukum Singh, for allegedly using the word Bhangi in a derogatory way.
The act seems to have hurt the sentiments of the Valmiki community.
Salman Khan reportedly used the word during the promotion of his film Tiger Zinda Hai, while referring to his dancing skills while Shilpa Shetty used it to describe how she looks at home.
A complaint was registered against the actors last month regarding this matter meanwhile The National Commission for Scheduled Castes sought an explanation from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.
The police commissioners of Delhi and Mumbai have also received complaints from an ex-chairman of the Delhi Commission for Safai Karamcharis, Harnam Singh.
