Superstar Rajinikanth's wife Latha Rajinikanth will have to face trial in a fraud case after she allegedly failed to pay dues to an advertising company, the Supreme Court ordered on Tuesday.

According to reports, the Supreme Court said that investigations will be made into the case against her and that she will be put on trial after a charge sheet has been filed.

The dispute reportedly began in 2014 over the movie named Kochadaiiyaan, starring Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone.

Apparently, a loan of  Rs10 crore was taken from the ad firm for the post-production work of the movie. The firm later went to court, alleging that Latha Rajinikanth's Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd, had defaulted on payment and that Rs 6.2 crore remained pending to be paid.

The Karnataka High Court, however, canceled legal proceedings against Latha Rajnikanth, saying the case was not of fraud but a breach of agreement. After the court ordered the balance payment to be made within three months, Latha Rajanikanth had reportedly assured the court that the dues will be cleared.

On July 3, the Apex Court pulled up Latha Rajinikanth for defying its order that directed her to repay the amount.
