While the general elections in Pakistan took place on Wednesday, Pakistani actress Mahira Khan missed the elections and said she regretted not being able to vote. Many actors come forward to encourage citizens to vote but it looks like this hasn’t gone down well with a lot of people.

According to media reports, Mahira said a day before that she would be missing it because of work commitments, which was scheduled months before and there is no way it could have been changed. While she also did say she tried to reschedule it, it was impossible to do so. The actress will be seen along with other celebs in Canada performing at an awards ceremony. Interestingly, many others like Ali Zafar and Mawra Hocane have asked people to actively vote.

While, Zafar tweeted an old video for 2013 elections and captioned it “I say the same to you today”, Mawra took to her Twitter account to tell people that regardless of their political inclinations, they should head out to vote and make it count.
