Discussion on Bengali poet Vidyapati at American Centre, Kolkata

The US Consulate General will hold a discussion highlighting the influence of 15th century poet Vidyapati on Bengali literature and culture.

The US Consulate General Kolkata invites you to “Inventing the Vidyapati Tradition:  Lyric Poetry and Memorialization in Maithili and Bengali Literatures”. Led by Fulbright-Nehru Fellow Christopher Diamond, the discussion will highlight the influence of fifteenth century poet Vidyapati on Bengali literature and culture. Diamond will also share his experience as a Fullbright scholar in India and his views on South Asian Language research and education in the US.
