Be a part of the musical event commemorating the death anniversary of Acharya Baba Allauddin Khan. Presented by Aashish Khan School of World Music (AKSWM), the event will be held at Ali Akbar Khan sahib's Kolkata residence at N S C Bose Road, Regent Park, Ranikuthi.

The programme would feature ensemble by students of the AKSWM & performances by young upcoming musicians. The star attraction of the event would be a sitar performance by Pandit Partha Bose, a leading torch-bearer of the Senia Maihar Gharana, who, recently completed 5 decades of musical journey.

In music there are legends which survive the test of time and Acharya Baba Allauddin Khan is a case in point - very much alive 47 years after his death in 1972. Appropriately described as Father of Indian Instrumental Music in his lifetime, his music gave a new dimension and contemporary context to the musical heritage of Tansen, such that he is regarded as the founder of Senia Maihar Gharana. Baba's disciples, including Ravi Shankar,  Ali Akbar,  Annapurna, Bahadur Khan,  Nikhil Banerjee, Pannalal Ghosh & others effectively spread his legacy all over the world leading to the globalisation of Indian Classical Music.
