Apart from celebrating the triumph of good over evil, religious festivities in our country also calls for family reunions, get-togethers and celebration of good life, when all of us are decked up in the finest clothes and adornments. Over the years festive fashion has become as important as wedding or seasonal fashion edits with designers of repute unveiling their festive collections, often clubbing them with their Autumn-Winter or Fall ensembles.
This Diwali we give you five real cool styling tips by celebrated couturier Manish Malhotra, who is also the brand ambassador of Love & Care to turn you into a cynosure of all eyes.
Here they are:
Keep it modern
Malhotra feels that fusion wear is the call of the day and one can try a very boho-chic look by pairing a beautiful printed or solid coloured flowy skirt with an edgy crop top or long, tapered top. "This evokes a sense of modern style. For the evenings, which are usually formal, one may wear a beautiful, embellished long gown for that dramatic look," adds Malhotra.
The immortal sari look
Exude nine yards of vintage charm in your favourite silk sari. Saris are stylish and versatile and very traditional, making it an apt choice for occasions such as Diwali.
Be minimalistic
Being minimalistic is the key to looking gorgeous. If heavy outfits make you uneasy, you can opt for light tunics, which are equally attractive. "They can be worn short either short or teamed up with a comfortable palazzo. With subtle embroidery, they can be a perfect sartorial choice for your Diwali lunch," feels Malhotra.
Go for clean lines
Simple silhouettes without multiple layers stand in good stead during overnight parties. "Intricately crafted kalidars and shararas with clean lines are in style this Diwali," tells Manish.
Celebrating colours
Jewel tones and elegant shades of white, ivory, ochre, beige, salmon and gold are the ones to opt for during Diwali. "Outfits having sequinned sheathing, ivory threadwork, floral motifs and sheer play are hit this season," says Manish.
