If you ever attended a concert by The Raghu Dixit Project, you know you just have to get up and dance! “You can’t just sit down in one corner with a drink in your hand,” says musician Raghu Dixit. The Raghu Dixit Project is all set to perform in Hyderabad after a couple of years at a gig hosted by Juri Cafe in collaboration with Tree Huggers Club. The fans have waited for this for a while now and to them he says, “Come in your pyjamas, wear your dancing shoes, listen to Lokada Kalaji and groove,” says the Bangalore-based singer known for his folksy tunes of Gudugudiya Sedi Nodo which he once performed in front of Queen Elizabeth II of England at Royal Albert Hall. Also, ever since The Train Song from Gully Boy released, he has become even more popular. “The audience wants familiar songs that they can sing along to,” says the musician, who has performed in several countries including US, Japan and Russia.

Also, did you know that The Train Song from Gully Boy was originally written around four years ago when Raghu collaborated with Karsh Kale and MIDIval Punditz? “It originally had Kannada lyrics. Ankur Tewari, who was the music supervisor for Gully Boy, happened to listen to this song and then introduced director Zoya Akhtar to it,” says Raghu. So would he be starting his Hyderabad gig with that song, we ask. “Absolutely not! That song comes towards the end of the performance,” he says. Fans would be happy to know that the Raghu Dixit Project has been working on their new album, set to release sometime in August. Also, they have shot videos of their popular numbers. That apart, Raghu is busy singing for films, including a few for Tollywood music. “I love the power of film music and how it catapults the singer into the limelight,” says Raghu.
