Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut is all set for the release of Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi next week, however, the Rajput fringe group Karni Sena has been reportedly harassing her. The actor, who has directed most of the film, released a strong statement against the group and said that she will not stop at anything if they do not let the film release on time.

Kangana, in her statement, said that four historians have certified Manikarnika and the film has even got a censor certificate and even after conveying it to the Karni Sena, they have been harassing her. The Maharashtra wing of the outfit has also sent a statement to the makers of the film saying that if the image of Rani Laxmi Bai is maligned in the film or if she is shown to be the lover of some Britisher then the makers will face consequences. Interestingly, this is not the first time that the Karni Sena has opposed a film. In November 2017 and January 2018, they created an issue with the screening of the Bollywood film Padmaavat, where Deepika Padukone played the role of Queen Padmavati.

Manikarnika has been involved in controversy initially because of the credits of direction given to Kangana Ranaut, however, producer Kamal Jain has said it is rightfully hers. Now, the Karni Sena has warned the makers, as it is a historical biography on Maratha warrior Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi.
