Popular comedian and one of Television’s most favourite, Rip Taylor, passed away in Beverley Hills, California. He was 84.
His publicist, B. Harlan Böll, confirmed the death and said Rip had a seizure and died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Fondly called The Crying Comedian and The King of Camp and Confetti, Rip was known for his style and moustache, of course.
He made appearances on sitcoms and talk shows including The Gong Show, Password, The Merv Griffin Show, The Mike Douglas Show, The Tonight Show and Late Night with David Letterman in addition to a hosting stint for The $1.98 Beauty Show. He made over 2,000 television appearances during his more than 50 years in show business.
He is now survived by his longtime partner, Robert Fortney.
