SH Raza’s Peinture (1959)
Estimated value: Rs 2.5-3.5 Cr
It’s an absolutely astounding work. It’s a long, narrow, horizontal, abstract landscape rich in reds and dark blues, it’s almost like a kaleidoscope.
MF Husain’s Maya III (1970s)
Estimated value: Rs 1.2 - 1.8 Cr
In the Maya series, the face is not important but the tribhanga (or triarticulated) pose becomes significant. You have these broad and evocative strokes creating the body of a woman who appears to be a dancer.
Nandalal Bose’s Lotus (1952)
Estimated value: Rs 20-30 lakhs
The beautiful lotus by Nandalal is astounding for its tone and simplicity.
KS Radhakrishnan’s The Ramp — Standing Musui (2004)
Estimated value: Rs 60-90 lakhs
It’s a massive sculpture with a 100 figures marching up the ramp. The artist has created two figures — a male and a female protagonist – Musui and Maiya. This is a standing Musui that’s reminiscent of Paramahamsa giving a speech.
Jamini Roy’s Krishna with Playmates
Estimated value: Rs 8-12 lakhs
This particular work is extremely enchanting for the texture used with a matte ground. It’s beautiful and evocative.
