Saffronart's upcoming auction features works spanning from the beginnings of Indian art history to modern contemporary pieces.

The auction, titled "Classical to Contemporary", will have showings in London, Mumbai and New Delhi and will take place on Saffronart's website.

Some special pieces on sale as part of the auction include a painting by British landscape artist, William Daniell. "Deer in a Wooded Landscape" was likely painted around the year 1830 and is expected to sell for Rs 25,60,000. The artist's work greatly influenced Indian artists in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The auction also includes a selection of terracotta fertility statues from the years 100 BCE - 200 CE, and some featured classical pieces that "offer insight into religious iconography and patronage" according to Saffronart.

Saffronart's CEO Hugo Weihe told sources, "This sale offers the wonderful possibility of acquiring works that extend the depth of understanding of modern and contemporary art, and classical art that has been historically undervalued."
