Slayer, the American heavy metal band from Huntington Park, California, has confirmed in an Instagram post that they are calling it quits.  After 37 years as a band, the metal legends are embarking on “one last concert tour around the globe to thank their fans for all the support over the years.”

A montage of photos and videos from their almost 40-year history, the video declares: "Slayer to make its exit with one final world tour."

The band was formed in 1981 by guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman.

The new run of shows will kick off on May 10 with a concert at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, Calif. The itinerary includes dates throughout Canada, as well as concerts in Dallas, Charlotte, Orlando, Cleveland, and more.

On Twitter, the band put out a poster for the tour, confirming that Lamb of God, Anthrax, Behemoth, and Testament will provide support.

Slayer has put out 12 albums, the most famous being 1986's Reign in Blood and the most recent being 2015's Repentless.
