Bose: Dead/Alive

Perhaps the best biographical series of this decade, the historic period drama stars Rajkummar Rao as Subhash Chandra Bose and depicts the story of the cover-up surrounding the death of the leader. Also starring Naveen Kasturia and Alexx O’Nell, the AltBalaji series explores the speculation about Bose's death and revolves around situations that hint at his possible return.

The Test Case

Directed by Nagesh Kukunoor and Vinay Waikul, ALTBalaji's Test Case is a story of Captain Shikha Sharma played by Nimrat Kaur. The series revolves around the first woman in a combat role in the army whose only aim is to serve the nation by acing the male-dominated military spectrum.  Apart from Nimrat, the show stars Juhi Chawla, Atul Kulkarni, Rahul Dev, Anup Soni among others.

The Final Call

Based on the Priya Kumar's 2015 novel 'I Will Go with You: The Flight of a Lifetime', the suspense-packed Zee5 show centres around the passengers of a flight from Mumbai to Sydney whose lives are put in danger after their captain decides to kill himself on board. This is also Arjun Rampal’s first web series, and also stars Javed Jaffrey, Sakshi Tanwar and Neeraj Kabi.

Mayanagri - City of Dreams

HOTSTAR’s 'City of Dreams' is the story of the feud within the Gaikwad family, which erupts after an assassination attempt on a polarising political figure. Blurring the lines between moral and immoral, in a struggle for power forms the core of this transfixing narrative.

Criminal Justice

The taut crime drama on Hotstar is directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and Vishal Furia; based on the BBC show of the same name, the show has a stellar cast, featuring Jackie Shroff, Vikrant Massey and Pankaj Tripathi.

Sacred Games

We hardly need to tell you why you should watch Sacred Games; perhaps the most ambitious Indian series ever made, the Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer is all set to return with its second season. The crime drama based on Vikram Chandra’s acclaimed novel of the same name has acquired a cult status in the country and is set to add a roster of acting talents in its newest season, namely Pankaj Tripathi, Kalki Koechlin, Ranvir Shorey.

Laakhon Mein Ek

If you’re not catching up on this refreshing young series by comedian Biswa Kalyan Rath, you’re missing out. The first season chronicled the story of a 15-year-old boy called Akash who was sent from Raipur to Vishakhapatnam for his IIT preparations, while the second season features the incredible Shweta Tripathi as a doctor who is posted at a village cataract camp and struggles against the lax healthcare infrastructure.
