According to reports, actress Emma Watson is said to join Greta Gerwig’s adaption of Little Women. The Paris-born actress and model will replace Emma Stone, who was unable to join the project. The production will reportedly start next month. Gerwig is writing and directing, with Meryl Streep, Laura Dern, Saoirse Ronan, Timothee Chalamet, and Florence Pugh in talks to star in Sony’s retelling of the American classic.

Little Women is based on the 1868 novel of the same name by Louisa May Alcott and features the March sisters in post-civil war America. It has been the subject of several film adaptions, including a 1994 version starring Winona Ryder.

Watson previously starred as Belle in Disney’s live action Beauty and the Beast and most recently, she appeared opposite Tom Hanks in The Circle.
