After Majid Majidi's Beyond The Clouds, actor Ishaan Khatter has made an entry into the mainstream Hindi cinema with romantic comedy, Dhadak, which also stars debutant Jahnvi Kapoor.
In an interview with a leading publication, Ishaan shared his emotional attachment with his brother and popular Bollywood actor, Shahid Kapoor. Although Shahid is Ishaan’s step-brother, the latter said that they grew up together. “The concept of half-brother has never been there in our home. He has been the primary male influence in my life,” said the 22-year-old. He added that the two brothers never thought of sibling rivalry, even while growing up. While Ishaan is the son of actors Neelima Azeem and Rajesh Khattar, Shahid is Azeem's son from her first marriage to actor Pankaj Kapur.
Ishaan made his first screen appearance as a child in the 2005 film Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi!, which starred Shahid. His recent film, Dhadak, is a remake of the Marathi film Sairat and tells the story of two young lovers in rural Rajasthan, who face political opposition due to caste discrimination.
