Sufi singer Pyarelal Wadali dies at 75

Ustad Pyarelal Wadali, brother of Ustad Puran Chand Wadali passed away in Amritsar on Friday morning. The 75-year-old artiste suffered from a cardiac arrest.

Pyarelal had not been keeping well for the past few months and was taken to the hospital on March 26, where he breathed his last on Friday. The funeral will be held at 3:30 pm at his ancestral village Guru Ki Wadali.

He is survived by his wife Surjit Kaur, two sons, Satpal Singh and Sandeep, and three daughters, Sheela Rani, Raj Rani and Soma Rani.

Wadali Brothers, who hail from a village near Amritsar, are famous for their Punjabi Sufi music. The duo began performing at Harballah temple in Jalandhar. They are adept in various styles of singing including Kaafian, ghazal and bhajan. They are also famous for their Bollywood songs such as Aye Rangrez Mere (Tanu Weds Manu; 2011) and Ik Tu Hi Tu Hi (Mausam; 2011).
