A few hours after Bollywood director Rajkumar Hirani was accused of sexual harassment by the assistant director of Sanju, actress Dia Mirza has reacted. The actress, in an interview, said she is deeply distressed by the news and hopes a proper inquiry is conducted in the matter, as she has known Hirani for over 15 years, and said that he is the most decent man she knows.

The sexual harassment accusation came to light after a leading portal, published a statement given by the person in question. Dia Mirza talking about the situation said that she respects the Sanju director a lot, and having worked with him for so long, it would be unjust on her part to speak about the issue as she does not know the details. However, Rajkumar Hirani has denied the allegations and released a statement saying that they were false. He went on to add that the allegations were brought to his notice a little over two months ago, and he had suggested that they immediately go to a legal body but the complainant has chosen to go to the media instead. The director also said that the claims were malicious and mischievous and cause disrepute to his name.

The accuser, in her statement, said that her mind, body and heart, felt grossly violated on the particular night and even six months after it. Interestingly, Dia Mirza has worked with Rajkumar Hirani in Sanju, with Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Anushka Sharma, among others.
