A little over two weeks after Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara was accused of having sexual relations with UK actor Charlotte Kirk, he has stepped down amidst investigations over the allegations. While Charlotte has denied the relations and said Kevin never told her to do anything, WarnerMedia has said the chairman stepped down because it is in the best interest of the organisation.
Kevin has also released a statement saying “it has been clear that my continued leadership could be a distraction and an obstacle to the company’s continued success”. However, Warner Bros said they have not appointed a new CEO, as they are currently conducting investigations about the matter. The allegations came to light after a publication published a detailed report of the texts between Kevin and Charlotte. He has been accused of having an extra-marital affair with Charlotte, but even though she has denied the allegation, her texts say otherwise. In one of the texts published, the UK actor accused Australian media mogul businessman James Packer and director-producer Brett Ratner of using her for the business deal.
Interestingly, Warner Bros had already conducted a private investigation against Kevin in 2017 but did not find him guilty at the time. According to several earlier reports, Kevin Tsujihara and Charlotte Kirk met through mutual friend James Packer, during which the former had told her he would get her acting stints with the production house, as a part of closing the business deal.
