Modern Family actress Ariel Winter has opened up about her weight gain in the past and how she has dealt with it, however, recently she revealed that she has taken medication to reduce weight. The revelation came during one of her question and answer sessions on her Instagram stories. The 21-year-old actor said her new antidepressant medication helped her in losing weight.

Ariel, who was often body shamed for her sudden weight gain in the past couple of years, spoke about her weight issues during the session. However, when she was asked by a fan on social media, “Why so thin?” She posted a lengthy note, in which she credited her sudden weight-drop to a change in her antidepressant regimen. The actor, who plays the role of Alex, in the show Modern Family, added that for years, the antidepressants had made her gain weight that she could lose no matter what she did. That period in her life was really frustrating for her as she wanted to get fit and feel that the work she was doing was paying off but she never felt like it.

However, she had accepted her fate and moved on and just accepted the feeling instead of worry about it. In the process, she was able to find a great combination of medication that works for her, and now she wants to work towards being healthier. Ariel added that she does feel better mentally and it feels great to work out again and have the body actually respond to the exercise. However, she said she does want to get healthy and get her ‘butt’ back.
