The 75th Golden Globe Awards took place on Sunday at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills and just like every year, this too was as splendid as always. The night produced some expected as well as unexpected winners and Rami Malek seems to have lived up to the hype as he won the Best Actor in motion picture for the drama category, on the other hand, it was Glenn Close who pulled off a surprise to win the Best Actress for The Wife over the much-hyped performance by Lady Gaga in A Star Is Born.

Interestingly, Bohemian Rhapsody also went on to win the Best Motion Picture award to beat Black Panther and A Star Is Born, among others. Green Book bagged the award for the Best Motion Picture, in the Musical and Comedy category. However, Olivia Colman won the Best Actress award in the Musical and Comedy category for The Favourite, over preferred favourites Emily Blunt for Mary Poppins Returns and Constance Wu for Crazy Rich Asians. It was also a good day for the directors as Alfonso Cuaron bagged the Best Director award for Roma, as the film also picked up the Best Motion Picture in the Foreign Film category. Christian Bale won the award for Best Performance by an actor in motion picture for Musical and Comedy.

If Bohemian Rhapsody and Rami Malek won big, the others were not too far as Regina King and Mahershala Ali won best actress and actor in the supporting role for If Beale Street Could Talk and Green Book respectively. Justin Hurwitz picked up the award for the Best Original Score for First Man as Shallow from A Star Is Born won the Best Original Song. Peter Farrelly, Nick Vallelonga and Brian Currie picked up the Best Screenplay for Green Book. It is no surprise that Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse bagged the award for the Best Animated Film over Incredibles 2, Isle Of Dogs, Mirai and Ralph Breaks The Internet.

If there were popular films that won big awards, television awards were not far behind as The Americans won the Best TV Series in the Drama category. While Richard Madden picked up the Best Actor award for The Bodyguard, Sandra Oh won Best Actress for Killing Eve. Interestingly, The Kominsky Method won Best TV Series as Michael Douglas won the award for Best Performance by an actor as Rachel Brosnahan picked up the award as best performance by female in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story won the award for Best Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television as Darren Criss won the award as the Best Actor. However, Patricia Arquette picked up the award for the Best Actress in the series Escape at Dannemora. On the other hand, Ben Winshaw and Patricia Clarkson won the best supporting actor and actress for A Very English Scandal and Sharp Objects respectively.
