Michael Jackson biopic sequel will deal with his child abuse allegations, Jaafar Jackson reveals

Jaafar Jackson made waves with the film, Michael, pop icon Michael Jackson's biopic. The actor, who is Michael's nephew, has revealed what the sequel of the original film might be about.

What will the Michael sequel deal with?

Jaafar Jackson portrayed his late uncle, Michael Jackson in the biopic, Michael, that released back in April and had a successful run at the theatres. The 30-year-old actor hinted at a possible sequel during an interview.

Speaking to GQ Middle East, Jaafar said, "I think the second film will give even more insight from his point of view, because at the end of the day, [the allegations] are always from someone else’s".

Michael Jackson had faced child sex abuse allegations in the 1990s but he was not found guilty by the jury in 2005 and he was never convicted of any criminal charges. However, it led to a lot of controversy that will seemingly form the central plot of the sequel. The 2026 movie ended with the events in 1988, leaving no scope for the film to delve into the controversies.

"It’s someone else’s story. It’s someone else’s idea of what it is, and it’s mainly driven by an agenda...And that’s really the issue we’ve been having as a family — not having Michael’s voice being heard. I think that’s very, very important, especially in the late years", Jaafar said.

Michael director Antoine Fuqua had said that the film initially filmed scene about the allegations but later, it was omitted. The film primarily concentrated on the Jackson's early journey in the late 1960s and the release of the King of Pop's hit solo album, Bad in 1987.

Jaafar added in the interview, "This first film focuses on Michael from his roots. You understand who he was as a human being first, because at the end of the day, that’s who he was in the '90s until he passed. He never changed that purity, that sense of always wanting to find the good in other people. And no matter all the stuff he went through, how he was treated, what things were said about him, he never stopped treating people with kindness."
