Breathe easy and unwind
We barely got out of our post- festive stupor and found ourselves faced with a long weekend, bringing with it all the indulgences that we’d been doing such a good job at battling. Grandmothers everywhere dished out Pongal delights and as I tucked into a bowl of Chakkara Pongal, I told myself I’ll make up for it next week. The eating also included dosas, fish curry and some massive tiger prawns, along with a great view of the water at the Covelong Point Surf School. I enjoyed a long lazy Sunday admiring the handiwork of the staff and their artful kolams.
Meanwhile, back in the city, a sundowner was underway – Umber Vamber at The Park’s Aqua featuring (and here’s a new one for me) Active Meditation music. Other than the big draw Artem aka Umber Vamber, the line up also saw Model/DJ Roya Khaleeli. I also discovered that 3 Hours Live events whose brainchild this whole concept is, was co-founded by Santana Lambert, one of Chennai’s most popular models. Santana and her friend Kalyan Chakravarthi decided to launch a platform to bring more international artistes to Chennai on a regular basis. Judging by the turnout, they’re on the right track.
And while we’re on the subject of popular faces, my week ended with the trailer launch of Amazon Prime’s new series Breathe, at Hyatt Regency Chennai. Up front and centre was Madhavan, who plays the lead in the trilingual series, accompanied by his co-stars, Sapna Pabbi and Amit Sadh. I got to have a quick chat with the cast and crew before turning them over to the media. While I expected their thoughts on the film to be followed by lots of crazy questions and photo taking, what we got instead was a rather well-behaved audience, more keen on the technical aspects of things. How about that? Not too bad as far as surprises go. And while its safe to assume that Maddy has his legion of fans across India, Sapna Pabbi has certainly found a new fan in me.
