Selfies, bubbles and loads of LOL: a rewind to some of Chennai's hippest events last week
A selfie museum themed around bubbles and superheroes, a comedy fest and the first anniversary of a cupping clinic with plenty of celebrities in attendance... the party was non-stop in Chennai
Big smiles and selfies, is how we started our week, with the Happy Wappy Place at Buva House. I visited out of sheer curiosity and ended up being not just super impressed, but fully immersing myself in the experience. Every corner you turned had a new Alice in Wonderland type theme, all artfully fitted under one roof. Shamshad and Farhana, the duo behind the whole concept, encouraged us to fulfill our selfie potential and to try everything… bubbles, smoke, superheroes, we explored them all.
Meanwhile, across town The Spotted Hyena launch fest was underway. Half Boiled Inc in collaboration with Club Crest presented a comedy festival with not just a killer line-up of people but a fantastic range as well. With everything from stand-up to interactive comedy to a crowd show, all with a casual, fun vibe. The audiences, of course, were ready for anything, with a mixed crowd, representing generations X, Y and Z. The line-up included popular names from the comedy scene like Sorabh Pant, Kenny Sebastian, Bhargav ‘Baggy’ Ramakrishnan, S A Arvind, Naveen Richards and Alex Babu. And yes, the ladies were also represented with names like Urooj Ashfaq, Sonali Thaker and Niveditha Prakasam.
This week, also included a little fan frenzy at the first anniversary celebrations of the One Plus Experience Store. Guest of honour, Anirudh Ravichander was given a true rock star welcome, with legions of fans who had whipped themselves into a frenzy. While most were hoping for “just one selfie,” their day was made when Anirudh indulged their requests to sing one of his songs. Also celebrating its first anniversary was the Alshifa Cupping clinic with both Kollywood and TV celebs in attendance. Made famous by Hollywood celebs like Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow, the cupping wave has now well and truly arrived in India as well.
