BFlat continues to celebrate its 10th anniversary with this evening, themed Incredible Indie! featuring Flying Shoe (early set), along with Meera Desai and Heat Sink. Flying Shoe is an indie folk/pop project by Omkar Potdar aka Omi (in pic), while Meera Desai is a singer who was born and raised in New York and moved to Ahmedabad a couple of years ago, and Heat Sink is an indie band whose sound ranges from jazz to prog rock and includes diverse styles and themes. Namazi has a long history in various music genres, but has always remained true to his underground guise. He was one of the early DJs in the 1990s who helped shape the underground movement in India. This Djembe Live Performance will be hosted as a part of the Artisans Bazaar art, crafts, handloom and lifestyle exhibition. The djembe is said to have been invented in the 12th century by the Mandinke tribe in what is now Mali, in West Africa. It has been played by West Africans for generations, forming an integral part of ritualistic life in Mali, Guinea, Senegal and other neighbouring West African countries. Visit with family & friends. Aman Mahajan will present Refuge 1 (solo piano works) at this live concert at this solo piano concert series featuring contemporary improvised music by the noted pianist, composer and improviser. Refuge is a set of musical themes performed in various configurations, from solo piano to sextet. Equal parts structured and improvised, the music combines the spirit of jazz with myriad folk and classical influences. Refuge 1 is the solo version of this set — a collection of pieces that originated on the piano, travelled across the world, meeting a multitude of musicians and audiences along the way, only to return to the piano in this avatar. 8 pm-9.15 pm.
