Exactly a year after Game of Thrones Season 7 released, HBO has dropped some hints from the finale season (8) in a surprise teaser posted by the Television network. Although footage from the series was relatively brief, fans were given a glimpse of Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) reuniting at Winterfell.

The footage of the two Stark siblings is between a lot of shots of season seven including a clip of Gendry swinging an axe and Daenerys and Tyrion having a discussion. While Jon Snow hugs Sansa Stark at their family home, she is seen giving someone a shady side-eye look.

It’s not much of a surprise that fans of the series have already made theories about the upcoming season. It’s now obvious that Jon will return to Winterfell, where he’d earlier left Sansa as steward of the North while he was off hunting White Walkers and meeting his Daenerys Targaryen, who is also his aunt.

HBO dropped the little trailer as part of a broader clip promoting the network’s 2019 line-up. The trailer also has clips from several of their shows including Big Little Lies, Flight of the Conchords and Pod Save America.

A premiere date has yet to be announced, but the series will return in 2019. According to reports, HBO has ordered a pilot for a potential Game of Thrones spinoff. The prequel, according to HBO, will take place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones and ‘chronicles the world's descent from the Golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.’
