Here are some series that focus on a female character and have in a way had a rippling effect on the audience telling their story in not so traditional ways:

It is a known fact that comedy connects people, irrespective of the genre. However in this predominantly man dominated space women are going all out to take the stand-up comedy world by storm.

Here are four such series that focus on a female character and have in a way had a rippling effect on the audience telling their story in not so traditional ways:
 

  1. Great News

Great News is one of the few series that doesn’t take long to get viewers hooked on. The series is a workplace based comedy show that showcases the behind the scenes at The Breakdown which is a national cable news program broadcast from Secaucus, New Jersey. The story is centered around two women — Katie, a 30-year-old news producer who is desperate to earn some hard-hitting story assignments, and Carol, who is not only an intern at The Breakdown but also happens to be Katie’s mother. Catch the show on at from Monday to Friday at 10pm only on Comedy Central.  

  1. Orange Is The New Black

Orange Is the New Black revolves around a convict of a decade old crime of transporting drug money to an ex-girlfriend, normally law abiding Piper Chapman is sentenced to a year and a half behind bars to face the reality of how life changing prison can really be. The show airs on COLORS INFINITY in India.

Superstore" is aired on Comedy Central at prime time 9.30pm and is centered on the character of Amy who is played by America Ferrera. She is the store's most stalwart employee and is in a way holding the whole place together. To add to her character, Amy never wears he same name tag as she doesn’t like strangers calling her by her name. There was an exception however in two episodes where she wore her own, assistant manager, name tag. But on her personal front, Amy is currently enrolled in part time classes while working as got married and for reasons never attended college

  1. Girlfriends’ Guide To Divorce

Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce follows a best-selling author of a self-help book series who is secretly hiding her separation from her husband as she starts to navigate her life as a single woman in her 40s in Los Angeles. She starts to side with and take advice more from her divorced friends rather than her married ones, and it leads her to some unexpected and life-changing experiences. The show airs on COLORS INFINITY in India as well as Amazon Prime Video.

  1. The Mindy Project

The Mindy Project is a rom-com that stays true and portrays the woman of today to the world. It isn’t a typical series based on a relationship but instead is one of the few where she puts her own wants and dreams first. Mindy Lahiri isn’t someone that is loved or even liked easily by everyone. However she goes through thoughtful and visible change in her character on the show, but she doesn’t become a different person all together. The character grows as the series continues but the good thing is that she doesn’t lose her core qualities. By heart and by choice she is an accomplished OBGYN, entrepreneur, mother, co-worker, daughter and friend and shined beautifully in each and every role. This show airs on Comedy Central, you can also stream it on Amazon Prime Video.

The show Blindspot, that airs on COLORS INFINITY in India and available to stream on Amazon Prime Video, revolves around a woman with no memories of her past (Jane Doe), is found naked in Times Square with her body fully covered in intricate tattoos. Her discovery sets off a vast and complex mystery that immediately ignites the attention of the FBI, which begins to follow the road map of her tattoos into a larger conspiracy of crime, while bringing her closer to discovering the truth about her identity.
