If you’re updating your festive wear line-up for the coming season, and multi-designer fashion studio Ommbre needs to be your one-stop-solution. The Bhowanipore outlet has long been the go-to fashion destination for statement wear, among urban millennials and the city’s glitterati. Their latest Indo-western collection has a huge focus on contemporary-inspired festive wear; it targets an ethnic aesthetic but the designing is driven by wearability.

We’re talking a lot of one-sided pleat saris, ruffle pallus, pastel-toned appliques and quirky hemlines. The first thing which caught our eye at their chic studio space was an easy wear, pre-draped cream saree with a stunning powder blue embroidered blouse - perfect for daytime black-tie events, or even a fancy brunch.

“Most of the new pret numbers have interesting festive detailing, which are very good for trousseau, which is why we get so many younger people who come in to shop for their trousseau, and pre-bridal clothing. They want something trendy and interesting, and we pay a lot of attention to cuts and drapes and silhouettes,” Meghna Kamdar, of Ommbre, tells us.

The crop top and lehenga bottom pairing is the Bollywood-approved styling which has Gen-Z quite obsessed this season, and at Ommbre we found a vibrant line-up of elaborate ethnic skirts with fusion-inspired tops. We spotted a chanderi lehenga bottom with a wrap-around crop top which could just be your pick for Pujo nights.

What really impressed us about the collection was its urbane and refined approach to statement wear; from tapering silhouettes to funky cowl tops, and even retro shararas, Ommbre’s newest line-up is breathtaking, and can easily replace any couture shopping you had planned. One of our favourite picks was a pistachio ensemble featuring an organza palazzo paired with an embroidered bustier and a long jacket - it’s modern, it’s peppy and it's understated.

We also found some runway-worthy modish pieces like a satin jumpsuit in mauve, which had an asymmetrical culotte-like hemline. Ommbre also houses Gargi Gupta’s newest collection, which makes use of applique to give an edge to some easy printed pret wear numbers. Ommbre’s newest collection starts from Rs 5,000 and goes up to Rs 25,000.
