Whether it's the spectacular entrance of a Bollywood actress at her wedding or the radiant presence of any other bride enveloped in the essence of her dreamy avatar, there’s an undeniable allure to exchanging vows against a breathtaking backdrop. The phenomenon of destination weddings, now ubiquitous, sees couples embarking on quests for enchanting locales — be it majestic forts, lavish resorts, or sun-kissed beaches — wherein to enshrine their love story. These settings not only bear witness to the union of souls but also serve as the stage upon which memories are forged, destined to linger in the hearts of the newlyweds and onlookers alike for eternity. Fashion designer Tamanna Punjabi Kapoor’s latest collection Serenade is an ode to the modern bride’s desire for self-expression on her unforgettable day.
Her creations infuse a classic, old-world charm, indifferent to passing trends. Intricately crafted embroidery adorns effortless cuts, echoing her belief that true beauty lies in wearing what makes one feel most beautiful, not just what’s in vogue.
Walking us through Serenade, she expresses, “I envision crafting couture designs that seamlessly blend with the exquisite beauty of countryside landscapes, bar ns, mansions, and historical buildings, as well as the charm of vineyards and beach locales.” With a dedication to outdoor elegance, she strives to infuse every detail with panache, crafting unforgettable experiences for her NRI brides and their weddings.
“There is something magical and mesmerising about a bride in a long veil, walking a g ainst a scenic backdrop. Serenade brings this vision to life. The collection celebrates bridal wear where classics meet modern royalty. An odyssey of love — that’s what Serenade is about,” adds the designer. She highlights the special features of the collection, emphasising the romance of long veils with unparalleled craftsmanship. She explains, “The veils elegantly complement the statement pieces crafted in summer pastel shades of pink, peach, ivory, nudes, blue, and mint green. Embellished in rich textures of zardozi and mirrors, the textile tale of Serenade will sweep you off your feet.” In short, each intricate motif captures the essence of celebratory bridal couture.
Serenade consists of timeless classics like lehengas, shararas, and stunning ombre saris, alongside a couple of contemporary ensembles tailored for modern brides. The outfits are versatile and can be adorned for all the various occasions during a big fat Indian wedding. Additionally, lighter pieces are perfect for intimate family gatherings, festivals, and celebrations at home.
The designer underlines some standout pieces from the collection, stating, “The cream and gold lehenga with green insets, paired with a stunning, endless veil; and the pink gharara, designed with Anand Karaj (Sikh marriage ceremony) and nikah in mind.”
