Couturier sisters Ruchi Roongta and Rashi Agarwal’s label Ruceru, is making its debut at Lotus India Fashion Week presented by Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) scheduled today in Delhi. The city-based fusion wear, known for its contemporary ensemble for urban women, will be showcasing its autumn winter 2019 collection I Am.

“The collection ‘I Am’ celebrates the power of the ordinary. It's an antidote to the superficial societal stereotypes about the perfect body type, the perfect complexion  and other such notions of beauty” says Ruchi, informing that the brand has already been part of Lakme Fashion Week in 2017 and 2018. Bhumi Pendnekar and Bipasha Basu have been show stoppers for them in LFW shows. Diya Mirza is their show stopper for this show.

The collection is an attempt to debunk such adulation of a uniform idea of beauty and encourage women to care for authenticity and practicality. The silhouettes have embroidered quilts instead of dupatta that is much more practical in a winter wedding. Quilted lehengas and saris in fabrics like pure silk, silk dupion, organza, tissue chanderi and others are also part of the rich ensemble. “Women are constantly burdened with unrealistic standards of beauty. In this collection, we've portrayed the beauty in our everyday lives and we hope this will inspire one and all to look beyond such shallow parameters and appreciate the real beauty that lies within us,” avers Rashi.
