It took just two weeks for Anandita Sundar and Zaina Fazal to come to a united decision to set up up a platform that would help bring women of all sizes, colours and backgrounds together with the help of makeup. It was barely a few hours since their brand Anmol launched online on Tuesday, and they had already raked in a whopping 30,000 plus visitors on the website after film maker Karan Johar and actor Vishal took to Twitter to congratulate the youngsters.

“A few weeks ago, my cousin called me and said that her friend Zaina wanted to collaborate with me for something. We met two days after that, and I thought it was going to be a one-time thing for a makeup workshop, but the ideas grew and at the end of the evening we had this united dream to give back to the society, by way of makeup,” explains Anandita Sundar, who is actress Khushbu and director Sundar C’s 16-year-old daughter.

Ask her if she has done makeup for her mother and she says,  “I have, and she liked it but I think she might be biased here,” smiles the teenager. “I started watching James Charles, a makeup guru on YouTube when I was 13, and just got hooked. I could relate to him because he is just two years older than me,” says Anandita. For the uninitiated, James Charles is credited to be the first male ambassador for CoverGirl, and has over 12 million subscribers on YouTube.

With over 250 people attending her second workshop, Anandita and Zaina’s tribe increased and now want to break industry stereotypes, whether that’s bias against darker skin tones, taboos around skin conditions, accepting the LGBTQIA+ community or empowering acid attack survivors and burn victims. With their non-binary gender identity makeup workshops, the two hope to help people and give back to the society in whatever way they can.
