Designer Kunal Anil Tanna has found a way to give expression to deep-rooted emotional scars, as he started sketching for his new collection, called Resurrection. “There’s a certain pride in wearing the scars as medallions as we continue battling the chaos. We have attempted to translate that thought into silhouettes. That’s why we have created textures on organic coarse fabrics in mulled hues reflecting a person’s struggles,” says the designer who has recently dressed two of the most dapper Bollywood actors, Kartik Aaryan and Vicky Kaushal. The collection was recently launched at the multi-designer boutique, Anahita.

Staying away from the wedding finery that he is known for, the menswear specialist has come up with functional ensembles which are elegant and will fit into the everyday wardrobe. Expect tailored bomber jackets, lightweight Mandarin shirts, layered collar mesh voile tunic shirts and colour-balanced co-ords. The designs remain edgy, with layered pockets and buttons. They seamlessly blend into the fabric that looks giving a classy twist to the jackets. “The silhouettes inspired from various jackets like bomber, trench and biker styles,” says the designer, who graduated from National Institute of Fashion Technology, Mumbai. The key silhouette is the amalgamation of a shirt and jackets ‘shacket’ (shirt-style jackets) with the trench coat inspired details using their signature thread textures. Some of the bomber jackets have rib trims, which are comfortable to wear in the summer.

We also like the linen pleated trousers, which is a great buy as it can be easily paired with any short kurta and sneakers if you want to opt for an effortlessly styled look. These jackets are mostly crafted from made in handwoven fabrics of silks, cotton silk and silk linen. Also, the designer has made use of jute linen, mesh voiles and cotton silks for tunic shirts paired with jute linen and mesh jacquard trousers. Although the collection predominantly features various shades of blue, one can also notice other handpicked hues like burnt orange, grey and tan.
