Latha Puttanna launches Autumn / Winter collection, Magga

Bengaluru-based designer Latha Puttanna looked to the gorgeous handwoven silks of Karnataka for inspiration for her latest collection Magga, which she launched at Sublime Galleria earlier today.

A vibrant and festive range that includes saris, lehengas, salwars and dresses, all garments are made from pure handwoven silk. The Autumn / Winter line features Chintamani-woven anarkali salwars, and lehengas in a riot of bright colours such as green, pink, red, blue and mustard with hand-embroidered tops and silver zari buttas. Some of the saris have black and white checks with five different borders, for a more contemporary vibe. The extensive use of pleats and gathers lends to the visual appeal of the colourful and cheerful line.

Magga, the Kannada word for ‘loom’, is Latha’s way of promoting handloom fabrics that are traditional to Karnataka.
