THE charm of silver jewellery is hard to resist. And, we faced a strong urge for impulsive retail therapy when we visited the Glow-n-Glitter store at Jodhpur Park.

The 1,000 sq ft store will amaze you with its vast collection. The Glow-n-Glitter repository of silver and traditional temple jewellery includes everything from tiny trinkets like nose pins to toe rings jewellery to a more chic collection with semi-precious stones. A one-and-a-half inch thick anklet with the motif of a tiya paakhi (parrot) strung together caught our attention. The bespoke piece is also available as a necklace - a perfect piece to wear with a sari on Ashtami during Durga Puja, we thought.

Their temple jewellery is equally appealing, and we loved the earrings, necklaces, rings, statement lockets and chokers under the theme. Thick bangles with floral motifs in silver will make for a striking statement piece at any evening party. Pair it with a khadi or ikat sari or kurti, and you are good to go. The touch of silver on semi-precious stones like black onyx, agate, amethyst and more are ideal for daily wear. “Our jewellery is made of 100 per cent silver, and is designed keeping in mind the trends in fashion. Silver jewellery goes well with ethnic as well as Indo-Western wear. Plus, it’s more affordable and wearable,” said Gouri Ray, the owner of Glow-n-Glitter. Ray informs us that the store was born out of passion, and was started by her daughter Aparajita Ray in 2012, who left her job to channel her creative skills. After success in exhibitions across India, Glow-n-Glitter was born.

An interesting fact to note is that the venture initially started with brass items, and as you enter the store, an impressive collection greets you. Figurines of Ganesh, Lakshmi, Krishna and other gods and goddesses as tall as four feet will amaze you with their intricate levels of craftsmanship. Sourced from across India, the interesting locks in brass with motifs of Ganesha, Buddha, fish, owls and more will give your home décor an instant uplift. Their collection of conch shells with detailed work will add a touch of art to your temple at home. Blue pottery is a new addition to the collection, and their coasters, bowls and other items are worth checking out.
