These Easter eggs from Chennai are so good looking, you might cry a little with each crack

We just found what is perhaps India’s most eggs-pensive Easter egg! At a whopping INR 1.5 lakh, this creation fits an entire house — for a bunny rabbit, that is. And promises furniture, a bathtub and a grand ol’ staircase. Here’s our rollout of some of the most eggs-centric choices of Easter eggs you’ll find in Chennai this weekend — from gold covered to modern art inspired. Also, fair warning, these creations are so beautiful, you might cry a little with each crack...
 

Bespoke yolk
Breakfast in bed never tasted better than with ‘boiled eggs’ sculpted out of white chocolate, with a yolk fashioned out of coconut cream and mango-passion fruit ganache. Even more unique, is pastry chef Ravi Varma’s single origin jawa milk chocolate egg with a filling of dehydrated strawberry cheesecake truffles. The latter, we’re told is prepared by blending ganache with freeze-dried strawberries and dehydrated cheese granules — for pops of flavour in every bite. Shake your bonbon 
We’ve never heard of bonbons disguised as Easter eggs. But let’s follow that up with a flavour list promises to make you absolutely egg-static! Expect options like mango cheesecake, dulce de leche, marzipan, peanut butter jam and birthday cake... all available in summery pastel shades. A box of 10 bonbons is priced at INR 750. Also, look out for 3 cm mini eggs that are available in jars of 20 (INR 400) and larger hand-painted variants (these are hollow) with canvases that cover everything from animal prints to the galaxy. Gold rush 
This gorgeous 8’ by 3’ Easter egg covered in edible gold promises to make you feel like a million bucks, even before you take a crack at it. Choose from couvertures made of milk, white or dark chocolate with a filling of rice krispies on the inside. Available at Writer’s Cafe, all outlets.
Price: INR 220. 

Shell we dance? 
Discover fillings as diverse as truffle oil chocolate, coconut and cardamom carrot halwa inside this 
egg-cellent surprise. And that is just the beginning — because the rest might leave you shell-shocked. The three-foot-tall cover of this Easter egg is made of 21 kgs of pure imported chocolate (80 per cent dark) and the whole creation takes an entire week to bring together. Fillings can be customised on request. Available at Est, Hilton Chennai till April 21. Price: INR 45,000++. A medium size of the same is available at INR 3,500 with a required 24-hour notice.

Bunny, I’m home! 
This Easter Egg is as big as a house! Except, at 3.5 feet tall — it will likely only fit Easter bunnies. Constructed by three pastry chefs over the course of a week, it boasts plenty of intricate detailing from a sprawling staircase to a luxury bathtub. Believe it or not, this egg is made with an eggs-travagant 90 kgs of chocolate and five kgs of fondant. The egg is on display at The Cake Shop, Leela Palace Chennai. Available for pre-order and can be customised for guests on request. Price: INR 1.5 lakh
