After serving delicious cupcakes to the city for a little over seven years, The Cupcake Company recently opened their first full-fledged dessert café on TTK Road. Inspired by restaurants from various parts of Europe, the floral and pink interiors with marble tabletops make it quite an inviting place to be. The menu is extensive and features different kinds of dishes like pancakes, crêpes and French toast options too, apart from the mouth-watering all-day breakfasts, sandwiches, buttery scones in desserts, which are also available at the counter.

Holy crêpe!
With such variety on the menu, we decided to step in for brunch and were greeted, not before long, with a delectable Cream Cheese Pancake topped with caramelised bananas and a lavish drizzle of Nutella. Fried to perfection, the fluffy pancake was delightfully sweet and loaded with sweet sliced bananas which are paired with a generous helping of Nutella. The pancakes are also available in two other combinations — maple syrup and fudge, and lemon, curd and cream. After a really sweet start, we hoped the next one was a savoury crêpe bursting with flavours to cut through the sweetness. As if on cue, the Creamy Pesto treat arrived at our table, served with caramelised onions, sweet sun-dried tomatoes and a Béchamel white sauce spread. We relished the dish as we made our way through a sweet mix of cherry tomatoes, onions and the French sauce. We paused for a bit to wash it down with a chilled lemonade as we get ready with fork and knife for our next dish, a signature dish on the menu.

Nice to meat you
A colourful Roast Chicken accompanied by a sweet salad garnished with cheese came next and we couldn’t wait to dig in. The white meat had an eye-catching glaze and was a delicious combination when we ate it with broccoli, onions and tomatoes, and a side of lime. If you’re looking to eat something light, the Open Sandwich makes for a good choice, which is available in a vegetarian and seafood option. However, if eating a larger meal is on your mind, the Roast Chicken with capers in a tomato sauce is the way to go, and we love the spicy, tangy flavour. A meal at TCC is incomplete without dessert and it did not disappoint as we saw a colourful spread of scones with jam and cream cheese, banana bread, and the Petite Four tarts. While we were visibly stuffed, a dab of cream cheese on fresh scones was irresistible, as was the soft banana bread. If that wasn’t enough, the bite-sized tarts of lemon cream cheese, red velvet, Nutella and chocolate ganache let us sink momentarily in dessert heaven, before we made our way out of the café.

Meal for two is Rs 1,000 plus taxes.
