Expanded menu, longer bar and brighter ambience, check out the new avatar of Pour House in Kolkata
Pour House 2.0 is bigger, bigger, brighter and better
POUR HOUSE, IN i t s new avatar, is better and brighter, literally. The former dimly-lit pub, with rather high stools, is more luminous and now has chesterfield sofas providing plush comfort. The bar and its menu have also expanded and so has the food menu, which sets the right formula for addas with friends in Sector V.
Tabish Alam of the capacious 10,000 sq ft fusion restobar says, “Pour House is three years old now, and we wanted to improve upon our services, and keep our patrons happy. So, we made a lot of addition and subtraction in the interiors as well as in the menu. Our priority was to have more comfortable seating, and add more lights. While the lounge area is no longer segregated from the main area, making it more inclusive, our bar is now the longest — at 65 ft — in Sector V, featuring 100 shots named after cartoon characters. The menu too has a lot more to offer from small bites to delectable mains.”
Bearing the theme of London with big European-style paintings, a wall with wooden barrels, recording the achievements of the pub, is hard to miss, and very interesting to note. While the bar mixed some potent potions for us, executive chef Md Mustak whipped up his best on our table. We started with the Beetroot and Cream Cheese Cake, an appetiser. Paired with mint chutney, the crunchy-outside and creamyinside bite-sized starter made way for half a dozen more delectable eats on the plate. The Delhi 6 Ki Fish Fry, prepared with basa and served with a piquant mustard mayonnaise, has strong flavours and goes well with fizzy glugs.
Another preparation that teased our taste buds was the Sukha Masala Mutton Dry with Appams. Cooked in South Indian-style, the small and tender pieces of spicy mutton with soft appams are highly recommended. For those looking for a full meal, the Butter Chicken Kebab Platter can be a saviour. And for those who lean towards healthy bites, the Veg & Tomato Broth will be ideal. Pair it with the refreshing Healthy Skin Iced Tea, with the smooth taste of cinnamon, and stay guilt-free. Among the other trippy potions, Namaskar, a whiskey-based drink, wins with its presentation as well as taste. Last but not the least, if you love the flavour of paan, then you must try the Paan and Nutella, a glass full of the goodness of gulkand, chocolate, icecream and everything that tastes delicious.
