Massive Restaurants, the people behind the popular Farzi Cafe, recently launched their contemporary Chinese and Thai bar and grill, Bo-Tai, in Bengaluru. Located at the JW Marriott Hotel on Vittal Mallya road, the space is set around a 200-year old fig tree, giving it a charming and casual vibe.

Our tasting session started with the Full Moon Festival. A cocktail designed specifically for Instagram, it is a pink gin-based drink served in a fish bowl and topped with fresh and pretty flowers. The drink was well balanced and as delicious as it looked. We also sampled the Bangkok Boulevard, a whiskey cocktail served in a coupe glass coated with edible gold. This is another must-try.

We were first served the Raw Mango Soft Shell Crab. Coated in crispy batter and topped with a dusting of Thai spices, slivers of fried coconut and onions, this was an explosion of flavours and textures. For mains, we tucked into Grilled Snapper Chilli Jaggery Lime which was fresh and well cooked, with a crispy coating that was moreish.

The best way to end your meal at Bo-Tai is with the Coconut Creme Brulee. Served in a copra or dried coconut kernel, the notes of coconut paired well with velvety and rich cream. With a focus on innovation,  dramatic presentation and familiar flavours, Bo-Tai is sure to find a lot of takers.

Rs.2,800++  for two. At Vittal Mallya Road
