When the word Christmas comes to your mind, you automatically think about cakes and puddings but has meat ever crossed your mind? We didn’t give it much thought too until we visited The Boston Butt.
Nestled in Bandra, it is the first authentic charcuterie, smokery and bar in India. As soon as you enter, you are welcomed with the rustic interiors and walls adorned with pictures from the pre-Prohibition era, taking you back to Southern America. We were visiting them to try their limited-edition Christmas menu.
Curated by chef Siddharth Kashyap, the menu has been designed to cater to the onset of winters and as a feast for the family. From small plates like Pepperoni and Tomme cheese beignets, Grilled baby lobsters and Peppered steak and kettle chips to mains like two-pound whole roast gabagool (pork), Roast chicken and Pumpkin tortellini in almond cream sauce, the menu was laden with dishes that will make everyone reminiscent of the Christmas Eve.
Their star dish - the two-pound gabagool stands true to the indulgent promise. Slow roasted for over seven hours, home-cured with their spices and served with mini tacos and salsa, it's a perfect meal for the family. Another dish we loved was grilled lobster from their small plate section. Infused with Sichuan pepper-butter, it was an explosion of flavours in our mouth. By the end of these two dishes, we were so full that we couldn’t try their dessert but they are offering freshly baked skillet sticky toffee pudding with spiced Hennessy Martell to wind-up the meal on a jolly good note.
Overall, the menu was a treat for our senses because we could feel the rustic American nuances throughout our time there. And, with jazz and a delectable menu like this, it seems to be a perfect place for Christmas brunches.
