After its four-month-long monsoon hiatus, AER - Bar and Lounge finally return to Mumbai’s nightlife circuit. Situated at the 34th-floor of Four Seasons, this rooftop bar offers a panoramic view of the city’s landscape and the sea and is perfect to spend your evening hours. What more? They have also introduced a new menu featuring a mix of traditional and experimental cocktails and mouth-watering tapas.

What’s on offer?
Cocktails: How would you react to cocktails that have ajwain, kasoori methi and raw turmeric? The team at AER has put together an interesting line-up cocktail, many of which are derived from your everyday kitchen ingredients.

(L-R) Clarity, Sassy Peach and All That Bitters
(L-R) Clarity, Sassy Peach and All That Bitters

All that Bitters is a biting combination of kasoori methi-infused gin and lime juice, Pickle Me Up includes house-pickled gherkins, turmeric syrup, tequila and lime, and Clarity is their take on classic Bloody Mary and includes vodka, clarified tomato and basil, lime, salt, ajwain and basil tincture, garnished with an ajwain leaf. While Clarity was refreshing overall and we were surprised by how they clarified tomato juice to an extent that it looks like it never existed. But, the drink has a very strong flavour of ajwain, a common complaint with All That Bitters which involves kasoori methi. We would give both a pass on our second visit but something that we are certain to order again and again includes Sassy Peach, it includes Lacto fermented peach and Johnnie walker black label and is perfect for all those who love whiskey, At Sunset, which features Bira white beer and tastes fruity and delicious, and Mocha Break, which includes Ketel one, espresso, coffee and cacao liqueur and tastes like Baileys

(L-R) Chicken Tikka Pao and Cheese Chilli Peppers

Food: Although it is a bar and lounge and has limited options when it comes to food, none of the items disappoint us even one bit, be it crunchy and flavoursome Avacado Mash Toast, juicy Prawn Chilli Toast, a perfect fusion like Chicken Tikka Pao or Cheese Chilli Peppers pizza, which is apt if you are looking for something heavier. We also liked their desserts - Hazelnut Creme Brule and Rocky Road Brownie

Verdict: You must go there to spend a good evening watching a beautiful sunset while indulging yourself in their cocktails and food. It is ideal for a date.
