How often does it happen that you see a cute stranger on the road, but you don’t know whether you will see the person again? Well, Happn is the app for you. Every time you cross paths with another Happn user, his or her profile appears on your screen. The Paris-based dating app now launches in India.
“What’s unique about Happn is that everything – the customer experience and journey – starts in real life, which we made possible through real-time hyper-location. Happn encourages you to meet with the people who are already part of your world, because you were in the same place at the same time at least once,” says the founder and CEO, Didier Rappaport. Happn started with the idea that people you cross paths with probably share a lot with you by leaving, working or going out in the same areas as you do.
The screen has a “You have crossed paths with” tab which shows you profiles of people in your vicinity. You can click on each profile for more details on the person. It will also list mutual interests that you have with the person, such as favourite TV shows or books. You can also list where you will be in the next six hours with their “See you there” feature.
Launching in India was on the cards because it is a huge market for dating apps. “Half of Indians are under 25 and although they are deeply attached to core traditions, they are connected online and very open to the world,” Didier opines. The app is available for Windows, Apple and Android devices.
